With Pulp – Michelle Caron-Pawlowsky

Michelle Caron-Pawlowsky, With Pulp, 2019–

Photography

With Pulp is an ongoing body of work informed by queer ecology, a theory that considers environmental studies and queer theory to be deeply interconnected, as both deal with issues of binaries, dualisms, and intimacies between living beings. Queer ecology works to break down these dualisms and human understandings of the natural and unnatural, the alive and not alive, dismissing and questioning our preconceptions and generalizations. With Pulp engages with these ideas and considers harmony with nature as a form of healing and care in the wake of trauma by performing cycles of destruction and regrowth.

Michelle Caron-Pawlowsky is a Montreal-based photographer and artist. Her work considers representations of healing, sentimentality, and memory, offering intimate portraits of personal and external environments. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Photography at Concordia University.
