SHOWTIME! (to be said with an exclamatory voice while raising your hands in the air) – Roxa Hy

MARCH 23, 2018

SHOWTIME! (to be said with an exclamatory voice while raising your hands in the air) & other moments addresses the spectacle and hidden labours. The SHOW starts with the Miss France anthem as the REAL-BEAUTY-MISSES walks onstage (omg!!!). The work is anti-climatic, as a way to comment on the construction of performance and spectacle in theatre. Again, this addresses issues in representation of femininity. The focus shifts quickly on the cleaning lady and sweeping becomes the primary action. The whole performance reflects on its own construction and the “hidden labors” making systems of spectacle possible.
