Saint Lo. is a Montreal-based folk, indie, pop-rock band with roots that stretch across the continent. Their songs are nuanced and layered, featuring hypnotic vocals, profound lyrics, and intricate harmonies. Their lyricisms touch upon the various themes of complex emotion: vulnerability, isolation, connection, nostalgia, loss, and hope. The band members are Isabella Harned, Bashu Naimi-Roy, Marc Richard, Laura Glover, John Talbot, and Jory Strachan. Their upcoming record is set to be released in 2019.

Heartbreak does not occur in isolation; it is marked by intersecting systems of power including but not limited to patriarchal violence, heteronormativity, and misogyny. “Wounds” captures the nuances of moving through pain while challenging the male gaze. It is playful. It is sad. It is traumatic. And, it is healing.
“Wounds” is a song about the rupture of relationships, about community, and about telling a story toward growth. “Wounds” represents a deeply personal experience which intersects the with notions of friendship, compassion, and creativity. This intersection is present throughout the song– within the orchestration and arrangement, the texture and nuance of two weaving voices in harmony, in triumphant melodies by sax and accordion during instrumental breaks, and through the driving and consistent rhythm underneath constantly shifting instrumental dynamics.
The video was directed by Isabella Harned and Laura Glover on the traditional territory of the WS’ANEC’ (Saanich), Lkwungen (Songhees), Wyomilth (Esquimalt) peoples of the Coast Salish Nation, otherwise known as Esquimalt and Victoria on Vancouver Island. The video was edited by Montreal-based editor Olivia Du Vergier, filmed by Vancouver-based videographer Daniel Keen, and acting by Emily Tognet.
